This special project is a reinterpretation of the white marble used for the facades of the 1912 Michal and Renata Hornstein and 1991 Jean-Noël Desmarais pavilions. The architects clad the facade of the new pavilion in a wall made of marble from the same quarry in Vermont as its two predecessors, reproducing the image of the material in its original state, with the lines of its veins running along the facade like a gigantic four-storey high block of carved marble.

PICCO Engineering was hired to provide full service consulting which included stone selection, design-assist, quality control program, visits to the quarry and fabrication facility, shop drawings, shop tickets, engineering and field inspections. This sourcing required a very unique numbering system to document every block and every slab to ensure consecutive slabs were fabricated and installed on the facade to mimic the quarry face.
