PRESS RELEASE—PICCO Engineering Celebrates 25 Years in Business

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

PICCO Engineering Celebrates 25 Years in Business Company Commits $25,000 to Camp Oochigeas

As part of its 25th anniversary celebrations this fall, PICCO Engineering, the award-winning structural and stone engineering firm, has committed to supporting Camp Oochigeas, an overnight summer camp for children with cancer. PICCO has pledged $25,000 to the camp and is looking for clients, friends, and family to help double that to $50,000.00. “I am extremely grateful for the opportunities PICCO Engineering has given me over the past 25 years,” said Mike Picco, Founder and President.

“My team and I have worked on many ground-breaking projects with amazing designers and visionary clients. Our 25th anniversary celebrations seemed to my wife Susy and me to be the perfect time to acknowledge our good fortune and to give back to the community in a significant way,” Picco said.

Since it began over 30 years ago, “Camp Ooch” as it is fondly known, has grown to annually serve over a thousand children with and affected by cancer as well as their siblings and/or bereaved family members. Through the “Magic of Ooch,” every child, no matter how debilitating their illness, is given an opportunity to explore enriching, challenging, and fun experiences under the supervision of medical and other trained staff.

Mike Picco began PICCO Engineering in 1992 as a one-man consultancy. Today, 40 employees work out of a modern office in Concord, Ontario, contributing their stone and structural building expertise to institutional, industrial, commercial and residential projects around the world.

While PICCO’s most visible successes include high-profile, public projects like the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, the Canadian Museum of Human Rights in Winnipeg, and the Ark of Return in New York City, the company continues to take pride in every project, regardless of size.

“I’m proud of the strong, personal relationships we have developed with all our clients. Most importantly, I’m proud of all my employees, many of which have been with me since our very early days. Their dedication and commitment to teamwork, excellence and integrity continues to inspire me,” said Picco.
