April 2021—PICCO held its very own Wellness Month where participants worked together to achieve wellness goals for the month. The purpose of this month was to raise awareness about the importance of health and well-being. Working in a remote environment can be challenging and can affect our mental health. As a result, it is important that we find time for self-care. Inspired by Catherine Tanaka’s 30-Day Program, Cassie Isola, a member of the Social Committee, planned a calendar with various exercises, meditations, workouts, tips, and goals. Every Thursday, weekly packages were shared with recipes, workouts, mediation, exercises, and weekly goals for everyone to use. At the end of each week, Susy Picco, Social Events & Fundraising Director, hosted giveaways with various prizes to help us stay motivated!
During Wellness month, we held various virtual wellness events together as a team such as a kick-off event, a workout, almond milk demo, a yoga session, and a wrap-up lunch where we encouraged each other to stay healthy and fit. Team members communicated on a weekly basis to track progress as we worked hard toward reaching our wellness goals for the month.
Caption: Some of the healthy recipes made this month are vegan tomato sauce, baked salmon, almond milk smoothie (raw ingredients), and a lemon almond cake.
Thank you to everyone who participated in Wellness Month! We encourage you to continue prioritizing your health and well-being every day.
