Belmont University's campus is known for its striking architecture, which blends classical design with modern functionality to create an inspiring academic environment. This particular stone-clad addition enhances the university's visual identity while reinforcing its commitment to high-quality, durable construction. Featuring grand Indiana Limestone columns and intricate detailing, the building serves as both a functional space and a testament to Belmont's dedication to excellence in design.

PICCO Engineering's involvement with Belmont University encompassed a comprehensive scope of services, focusing on design assist to effectively coordinate the structural and backup framing requirements. This coordination was essential to optimize the anchoring of the stone cladding. The project featured solid Indiana Limestone stone columns, reaching heights of up to 45 feet, which required meticulous connection design and engineering to ensure structural integrity.

Particular attention was given to the connections at the tops of these imposing stone columns. This design approach was critical to effectively transfer vertical loads while also mitigating lateral forces caused by the movement of the surrounding steel structure. This balance of load management was necessary to maintain the stability and longevity of the facade, contributing to the overall success of the building.
