The Mariinsky II theatre opened in St. Petersburg, Russia, in May 2013, marking a significant addition to the cultural landscape of the city. This new venue stands alongside the historic Mariinsky Theatre, built in 1860, and the Concert Hall, which opened in 2006, forming a remarkable theatre and concert complex. The introduction of the Mariinsky II, equipped with cutting-edge technology, heralds a new era in the history of the Mariinsky Theatre.
The exterior of the Mariinsky II is characterized by its elegant beige Jura Limestone, which is beautifully interspersed with syncopated floor-to-ceiling windows of varying sizes. The distinctive metal roof adds a contemporary touch to the building's overall aesthetic, creating a striking visual impact that complements the historic surroundings.
