Montclair Danby Marble
This special project is a reinterpretation of the white Marble used for the 1912 Michal and Renata Hornstein facades and 1991 Jean-Noël Desmarais pavilions. The architects have clad the facade of the new pavilion with Marble sourced from the same Vermont quarry as its two predecessors, meticulously reproducing the material's original state. The design features the stunning lines of the Marble's veins running along the facade, creating the illusion of a massive four-storey high block of carved Marble.
To bring this vision to life, PICCO Engineering was engaged to provide comprehensive consulting services throughout the project. Our scope included stone selection, design assistance, and the implementation of a robust quality control program. We conducted visits to the quarry and fabrication facility, developed shop drawings and shop tickets, and performed engineering and field inspections to ensure the highest standards were met.
This project required a unique numbering system to document every block and slab of Marble. This meticulous approach ensured that consecutive slabs were fabricated and installed in a manner that accurately mirrored the natural face of the quarry, achieving a cohesive and striking appearance for the new pavilion.
