This new world-class research facility is strategically located at the intersection of two major pedestrian pathways, anchoring a new academic and social core for the campus. A cedar-clad arched entrance is carved into the stone volume, leading into the building and forming a three-storey domed atrium featuring white terrazzo flooring.
The use of vertically slender geometric stone necessitated a precise system and critical detailing to achieve the desired outcome. Additional challenges on-site, including tight tolerances, made this a unique project to execute. An aluminum rail system enabled us to exceed expectations while optimizing installation for the crews. Back anchors in the Granite concealed attachments ensure that the "louvred" look of the façade remains true to the aesthetic intent.
