The Tennessee State Museum has been operating since 1937 to procure, preserve, exhibit, and interpret significant artifacts that show the history of the state, along with displays of art, furniture, textiles, and photographs created by Tennesseans. The current facility opened in 2018 and is located in downtown Nashville by the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park.
The 137,000-square-foot building, clad in Kansas Grey Limestone, includes a grand hall and a Tennessee Time Tunnel with interactive technology that takes you to the six permanent galleries that chronicle a diverse local culture and past. There are an additional five galleries that hold temporary exhibits, a 250-seat Digital Learning Center, and a Children’s Gallery.
The stone exterior was substantial in its presence and project delivery expectations. The outcome was equally impressive.
