Construction teams are generating more project data than ever: photos, scans, models, and reports. However, simply having more data has not made projects easier to manage, because that information is often scattered across different tools and workflows. The core problem, as this article from Construction Dive contends, is “decision friction”: teams waste valuable time confirming what is true before deciding what to do next, with office and field teams often working from different views of the same project.
The proposed solution is to move beyond raw data collection and toward connected “construction intelligence,” using AI-powered search and agent-based workflows. This enables teams to spend less time chasing context and more time resolving issues that affect schedule, quality, and coordination.
At PICCO, we have recognized this issue within our niche. Stone fabrication status, delivery schedules, installation progress, and issue-tracking data are often gathered and tracked by installation teams in separate, scattered places, from highlighted elevations hung in the site office to Excel spreadsheets and paper reports. That is why we are working to develop solutions that harness the power of BIM models and link data collection directly to them, providing a one-stop data-tracking and visualization hub.
