Reality Capture Takes Flight

Procore Technologies announced on July 29, 2026, that it will acquire drone and reality-capture platform DroneDeploy for $845 million. DroneDeploy's reality capture platform can capture both drone and ground data and has been used on millions of job sites across the world. Procore says that this acquisition will allow the company to deploy and sell reality capture solutions to its vast user base, and to expand its strategy of what Procore calls “digital coworkers” to assist in jobsite tracking and progress monitoring.
For stone and masonry contractors, this acquisition is likely to accelerate the shift toward AI-assisted quality control and progress tracking on jobsites. Coursing alignment, joint consistency, out of plane tolerances and anchoring adherence are inherently visual and dimensional in nature, and a combined Procore-DroneDeploy platform with scanning tied directly into project management workflows could make it far easier for GCs to flag deviations in real time. Project stakeholders will be able to compare as-built stonework against BIM models or specs without waiting for a manual inspection. This will raise the bar for documentation and accountability on masonry scopes, meaning subcontractors may increasingly need to demonstrate compliance through photo/scan-verified records rather than relying on traditional site inspections.
The deal however, does raise some questions about what this means for masonry contractors who are using other reality-capture tools within the Procore environment. Procore has yet to clarify how these existing competitive integrations will be handled, some masonry contractors may find themselves pressured towards the DroneDeploy ecosystem even if they prefer another tool.
